AGARTAL: The Electoral Commission has announced the date for holding the by-election for the Rajya Sabha seat of Tripura alone.
The election for the Rajya Sabha seat of Tripura was necessitated after Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha left the seat earlier this year.
Notably, Dr. Manik Saha was elected to the Rajya Sabha of Tripura in April this year.
However, shortly after being sworn in as a Rajya Sabha MP, Saha was appointed Chief Minister of Tripura by the BJP.

So far, former Tripura chief minister Biplab Deb has emerged as the frontrunner as the potential BJP candidate for the state’s Rajya Sabha election.

The electoral process for the new Legislative Assembly of Tripura will in all likelihood take place by the end of February next year.
