BDA ensures Committee on Petitions that the development work will be accelerated

The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) has once again assured the hopeful owners that the development work currently underway at Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Layout will be expedited.

The BDA assured members on Thursday of Legislative Assembly Petitions Committee who visited the site to inspect the progress of ongoing development work on the network.

As the BDA consecutively missed deadlines, the site’s grantees managed to bring the matter to the attention of the Legislative Assembly‘s Petitions Committee. The committee called a meeting with BDA officials during the first week of May to discuss the status of the layout work. Later, the committee decided to visit the network on May 26 but postponed it to June 2.

“All these years we were unaware that there was a committee to redress our grievances. Today, committee members toured the layout and inspected the progress of development work. Now I hope BDA will expedite the completion of the work in progress,’ said Nuggenahalli SridharChairman, Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Layout Open Forum.

“I am aware of the delay in providing basic amenities at the plot level to facilitate the construction of houses by the site concessionaires. We have issues, including the pandemic, which have delayed the completion of the work. We will provide water supply, electricity and sanitation in priority to those who want to build their homes here,” the BDA chairman said. SR Vishwanathadding that the BDA Board of Directors has decided to release funds for the BESCOM to supply the grid with electricity.

BDA is estimated to have collected around Rs 2,000 crore from site grantees by selling layout sites since 2016. development, but failed to do so.

Later, it was decided to complete all pending works by December 2021, but most of the works remain pending. The current deadline is December 2022.

A beacon of hope for NK Layout site owners

BDA failed to complete the layout development work even after missing numerous deadlines.

However, the site’s beneficiaries are not ready to take BDA’s latest deadline seriously, as five months have passed for various reasons. “I want the BDA to prioritize basic amenities such as UGD, drinking water and electricity. The contractors were forced to stop work in progress because there was a delay in clearing their invoices for work carried out on the network. The BDA has proposed to appoint a third party to audit the quality of the development works which is said to be one of the reasons for the delay in payments to the contractors.

“The contractors have already started the work. I hope to provide drinking water, electricity and underground drainage facilities within a few months. Beneficiaries of the site can start construction of their dream home after two months, BDA Commissioner MB said. Rajesh Gowda.
