KUCHING, May 3 – A Sarawak Land Code Amendment Bill will be tabled at the next session of the State Legislative Assembly (DUN), the Prime Minister of Sarawak has said.

Tan Sri Abang Johari Openg said more information would be released once it was made official.

“In principle, the State Cabinet has agreed to present it to the DUN and the bill will strengthen our rights in a few ways. Wait and see when DUN meets again, Abang Johari said during his open day at Hari Raya Aidilfitri today.

The second meeting of the first session of the 19th DUN will be held from May 17 to 26.

On a different note, Abang Johari said he was heartened by the overwhelming response at his open day on Hari Raya Aidilfitri today.

The prime minister said his visitors reflected a harmonious and united society.

“I am very grateful to all the visitors who came today. I received many visitors from different races and religions celebrating Hari Raya Aidilfitri during my open day on the second day,” he said.

Abang Johari urged people to continue to exercise caution to prevent Covid-19 infections as people’s lives slowly returned to normal.

“Furthermore, I am confident that our economy will recover from this pandemic and that economic activities will proceed without major obstacles this year. As things stand, there are a few projects that have been delayed due to the pandemic,” he added. — Borneo Post
