Bhubaneshwar (Odisha) [India]Apr 15 (ANI): Members of the Odisha Legislative Assembly visited the Indian Navy’s first training establishment, the Indian Navy Ship (INS) Chilka, officials said on Friday.
The “Day Visit to INS Chilka” was organized as part of the unit’s initiative to introduce the maritime domain and training philosophy of the Indian Navy to the representatives of the people of Odisha.
A delegation of 82 MPs along with state and district administration officials headed by the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, Surjya Narayan Patro, visited INS Chilka.
The Speaker of the Odisha Assembly also addressed the assembly and thanked INS Chilka for the great efforts made in providing training to the navy sailors.
“Odisha is proud that the premier training facility is located in the state,” Patro said.
He also pointed out that the foundation of the sailor’s journey in the Navy is laid here.
The one-day visit included a presentation on aspects related to the recruitment and training of seafarers, a tour of training facilities and student living areas as well as boot camp training activities conducted at INS Chilka.
Aspects related to coastal security, civil-military liaison with a focus on humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR) operations were also discussed during the presentation. (ANI)
