Manish Sisodia says BJP will replace Goa CM ahead of polls, Saffron party voices say “baseless”

Senior AAP leader and Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said on Saturday that two and a half months before legislative elections in Goa, the BJP is ready to replace Chief Minister Pramod Sawant. He also said he had an “internal list” from the BJP that took note of the failures of the Sawant government in the coastal state.

Sisodia’s statement comes a day after Sawant, Goa BJP President Sadanand Tanavde and Secretary General (Organization) Satish Dhond met with Union Home Secretary Amit Shah and BJP National President JP Nadda and National Secretary General BL Santhosh in Delhi after being abruptly summoned. BJP leaders, however, have denied Sisodia’s claims.

“We have learned from very reliable sources that the BJP is going to change its CM in Goa. Two months before the legislative elections, the party will replace Pramod Sawant and appoint a new chief minister. They did it in Uttarakhand and Karnataka. The BJP has now realized, just two months before the elections, that the people of Goa are very unhappy with Sawant. He and his government did no work there. They have realized that they cannot contest the election under his leadership. It must be the first time in the country’s history that the ruling party realizes, two months before an election, that its party has done no work and is now on the verge of changing the MC. The BJP admits it, ”Sisodia told reporters in Delhi.

BJP Goa Election Officer Devendra Fadnavis, however, said: “This is absolutely false and baseless. It’s like saying that the AAP will replace Arvind Kejriwal in Delhi.

To back up his claims, Sisodia said there was a Sawant government’s “10-point chess list” in the state the BJP had established. “The party admits that Sawant and his government have failed in dealing with Covid. Goa lacked hospital and ambulance beds. There was such mismanagement that the positivity rate was 50 percent, which was the highest in the country. Not only that, but Goa Panchayats had to make decisions to impose closures because Sawant’s government was inactive. And the conflict between the Chief Minister and the Minister of Health (Vishwajit Rane) was such that Amit Shah himself had to intervene to resolve it, ”Sisodia said.

He said the list also mentions scams in the state. “The construction workers council had programs in place for them. This money was taken and distributed to party workers by the BJP. This is called the “labor barrier scam” in Goa, ”he said. He also said government claims to distribute 5,000 rupees to families who had lost breadwinners due to Covid-19, a 20% pay rise for Covid warriors and 10,000 government jobs were also false. .

He said the Sawant government’s failures also included mismanagement of disasters when Cyclone Tauktae hit the west coast in May. “After Cyclone Tauktae, there was no electricity for four days. The government was not prepared despite the warnings, ”Sisodia said.

“The BJP admitted that they realized their CM was not good. They can do whatever they want, they can change MCs two months before the election but even if they do, nothing will change. You (BJP) should have worked for the people instead. People have already made up their minds. They will vote for the BJP and choose AAP, ”Sisodia said.

Earlier on Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated various beneficiaries of Swayampurna Goa (Autonomous Goa) during a virtual interaction. Modi also praised Sawant’s efforts to take Goa to “new heights”.

“Today, Goa moves forward with renewed confidence. The twin-engine government works with energy and determination for the growth of the state. The result of this Team Goa team spirit is the determination of Swayampurna Goa, ”said Modi.

Goa BJP Chairman Sadanand Tanavade said, “Who are the AAP leaders in Delhi to decide our party’s decision? Have we given them authority? Just two months before the election, can there be a leadership problem? This is common sense. Will a political party do such a thing just two months before the election? These are all rumors. Such a discussion did not take place at the Delhi meeting. This was the party’s electoral strategy. Today, too, the Prime Minister appreciated him (Sawant).

Meanwhile, Sawant’s office announced on Saturday, “CM is traveling out of state on a personal schedule and will not be available in the state for public meetings until Monday, October 25, 2021.”

We learn that Sawant was going to Gujarat and will return to Goa on Sunday evening.

During his visit to Goa on October 14, Shah congratulated Sawant for vaccinating 100% of the eligible population in Goa with the first dose of the Covid 19 vaccine. He said that Goa’s handling of the Covid pandemic- 19 was among the best in the country.

“The government of Goa has responded to all challenges very effectively and has tackled the coronavirus very well. It was among the main (states) of the country. I have no hesitation in saying it, ”Shah said.
