Amid speculation over whether it will be a cabinet expansion or a reshuffle in Karnataka ahead of Assembly polls next year, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai claimed on Saturday that he would only be informed after discussions with the BJP high command. “I will only know after discussion with the party high command,” Bommai told reporters in response to a question about whether it would be an enlargement or a cabinet reshuffle this time. Asked if any new faces will have a chance at the firm, he said that would be known when the announcement was made.
Karnataka BJP President Nalin Kumar Kateel on Saturday accused the opposition Congress party of encouraging riots and creating an anarchy-like situation, ahead of Assembly elections in the state and the even called it the “Gangotri of corruption”. He advocated for strict laws and measures to stop communal outbreaks and riots in the state, including the confiscation of property from those who started them. The leader of the state’s ruling party was speaking to reporters in Bengaluru after meeting with party officials as part of a statewide tour by the leaders of three teams, aimed at preparing the BJP from the bottom up for the 2023 Assembly polls.
