A 28-year-old Karnataka police officer and a man from Rajasthan were arrested in connection with the theft of two-wheelers in Bangalore. The cops said they seized 53 two-wheelers worth Rs 77 lakh. Two minors, who were allegedly used by the duo to commit bicycle thefts, were also detained.

The accused police officer has been identified as Honnappa Duradappa Malagi alias Ravi, who was associated with the Vidyaranyapura police station. He worked in the DCP office (northeast) on the deputation. The man from Rajasthan, identified as Ramesh (26), was his accomplice, cops said.

MLC Congressman Raghu Achar on Friday mocked the Karnataka Legislative Council, saying it had become a temporary refuge for losers in parliamentary elections who then spend millions of rupees to participate. Following protests from other members, he then apologized for his statement.

Last Friday, the last day of the session, MLC doubles Raghu Achar said, “There was a time when the house was filled with intellect, but now it is a house filled with the rich. Apart from Kota Srinivas Poojary (BJP MLC), no one had come here without spending money, that includes me too, ”he said.
